Event: Bukit Dinding Mycological Survey

Date:
13th October 2024, Sunday

Time:
830am- 1230pm

Location:
Setia Alam Community Forest

This event is not a typical fungi foray or casual nature walk, but a focused and scientific survey aimed at recording fungal species and their associations with the surrounding environment for detailed analysis.

Objective of the Survey:

Participants will be actively involved in:

1. Documenting and Recording Species: Identifying and cataloging the fungi found in the forest, with attention to details like location, time, and surrounding conditions.

2. Assessing Ecological Relationships: Matching fungi with the plant species or habitats they are found in, aiming to understand the interactions between fungi and their environment.

3. Collecting Specimens: Gathering samples of fungi for further study, ensuring proper techniques for specimen preservation.

4. Uploading Data: Contributing to public biodiversity databases like iNaturalist by uploading findings for scientific reference and future studies.

5. Writing Reports: Collaborating to prepare a comprehensive report on the survey's results, which will be used to enhance our understanding of the fungal diversity in Bukit Dinding.

This event is open to:

1. Experts with mycological, botanical, or biodiversity expertise, either through academic work or field experience.

2. Enthusiasts who have previously participated in scientific fungi forays or surveys with organizations focused on mycology or biodiversity.

This is a serious, volunteer-led survey designed to contribute valuable data for ecological study and conservation efforts. If you are passionate about biodiversity and ready to participate in this structured scientific effort, we welcome you!
